Dr Helen Childs

Helen is a chartered Clinical Psychologist with over 10 years of experience working in the NHS. Her passion is supporting the mental health of children, young adults, and their families, specialising in helping them navigate challenges and offering tailored support to promote well-being.

In addition to private practice, Helen works in the NHS jointly leading a team which provides early mental health support within primary and secondary schools. Her role involves offering individual interventions, group sessions, and workshops on various mental health topics for children, young people, and their parents/carers. She also provides regular consultation and liaison with educators, offering staff training and reflective spaces to create a supportive environment for students.

Helen founded this practice out of a deep commitment to helping children and young adults thrive mentally and emotionally, and to supporting parents in their crucial roles. Her approach is warm, open, and collaborative, ensuring that families feel heard and valued.

She applies a variety of therapeutic approaches in her work, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mentalisation-Based Therapy (MBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), Narrative Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT). These approaches allow Helen to tailor interventions to the unique needs of each child, young adult, and parent she works with.

Through her practice, Helen aims to empower families by providing them with the tools they need to overcome challenges and build stronger, healthier relationships.
